The pool temperature is kept
between the recommended 27°C and 28°C and, unlike
most swimming pools in the UK, uses ultra violet light
treatment as the main water cleanser thus requiring much
lower levels of chlorine in the water. This reduces
chemical concentration and therefore improves water
quality, making it more comfortable for the swimmer.
There is ample changing with showers and locker
facilities. Disabled members are also catered for with
changing facilities close to poolside and a hoist to aid access
to and from the water. Assistance is available from the
qualified lifeguards who supervise the pool at all times.
The swimming pool timetable accommodates a variety of
sessions enabling pupils and Members alike to make the best
use of the pool. Timetables are published at the beginning and end of each half-term. However, there are occasions
outside the normal programme when the whole pool is
required for a match, swimming gala or other School event.
Members’ pool activities also include Aqua Aerobics and
Children's Splash Time (during these sessions, swimming lanes will not be available).
Please note: for safety reasons, children under the age of
eight MUST be accompanied in the water by an adult at a
maximum ratio of two children to one adult.

Here at the Club we offers members both one to one or group swimming lessons. Taken by our experienced swimming instructors (Ellery McGowan, Ingrid Rousseau-Fidler and Catherine Cazin ), hundred of people have successfully learnt how to swim or have improved their technique through their swimming lessons at Charterhouse Club.
Each term we offer group lessons through which children are able to progress and win badges. Many go on to swim at local swimming clubs.
During the holidays we usually offer additional intensive courses, with 5 weeks of swimming offered every summer holiday period.
For adult members there is also Water Workshop which runs every Monday evening. This is a chance for adult swimmers to improve their technique and learn new ways of training in the pool. There is a small fee for this activity.
For those of you who would like the benefit of personal training but prefer to do your workout in the pool or benefit from a form of exercise which has low impact on the joints, why not try personal training in the pool. Personal Training in the pool will allow you to develop your fitness and gain the most from your time in the pool.
Personal Trainers can be contacted through reception .
Splash Time in the swimming pool is designed specifically for children and families to enjoy the freedom of the whole pool together with the use of floats and mats. Parents are welcome to join in these sessions but should be aware that lane swimming is not available during these times. The programming of Splash Times in the Swimming Pool timetable may vary from term to term but additional sessions are allocated during the holiday periods. New timetables are available at the beginning of each term and holiday period.
During Splash Time, children under the age of eight MUST be accompanied in the water by an adult at a maximum ratio of two children to one adult.
