The Management of Charterhouse Club may alter the terms and conditions of use, as necessary, without notice. Once the membership application form has been signed, the applicant is bound by the terms and conditions below. All members will be issued with a membership card which will remain the property of the Club and should be produced on demand.

Membership cards must be shown on each visit to the Club and swiped at reception on entry. Cards must be carried at all times when using the facilities.

A charge is payable for the issue of replacement cards, whether lost or damaged.

Membership is not transferable and the Membership and Joining Fee is non-refundable. In the event of a lapse in membership, a further joining fee will be payable if membership is resumed. The Management reserves the right to refuse membership at their discretion. The Management reserves the right to vary the opening times with due notice. The Management reserves the right to vary, at short notice, the opening times of the Club or the times at which specific facilities are open for repair or maintenance, as necessary.

The Management reserves the right to implement an "Adverse Weather Programme" on behalf of the School on any day, Monday to Saturday, giving exclusive use of the Swimming Pool, Sports Hall and Activity Studio between the hours of 2.00pm and 5.00pm. The decision to implement the Adverse Weather Programme will be by agreement between the Sports Centre Manager (or Duty Manager in his absence) and the Head of PE (or Second Master in his absence), not later than 11.30am on the day in question. Any Member subject to cancellation as a result of the Adverse Weather Programme will be reimbursed for any fees paid in respect of that booking only.

All members should be aware that Charterhouse School requirements may take precedence at certain times and facilities may occasionally be unavailable at short notice. Facilities can be booked up to 7 days in advance, in person at reception or by telephone, quoting the Member’s name and membership number. The Member who makes the booking is liable for all fees relating to any activities or facilities booked by them. A minimum of 24 hours notice must be given for cancellation of a booking. Bookings that are cancelled less than 24 hours in advance will be subject to payment. Similarly, failure to cancel or attend a booking that has been made will also result in payment for the activity.

Additional activities outside each membership category can be booked in advance and will be subject to the charges advertised. Children under 5 years of age are permitted to swim free of charge when accompanied by a Member. Junior Members and Junior Guests under the age of 8 MUST be accompanied by an adult Member in the swimming pool on a maximum ratio of 2 children to 1 adult. Daily Guest Members must be accompanied by the introducing Member. All Club users must wear suitable sports clothing and the correct footwear according to the sporting activity. Outdoor shoes are not permitted in the Sports Hall, Activity Studio or Fitness Studio. Only sports shoes with non-marking soles should be worn in the Sports Hall and Activity Studio. Rock Climbing boots must be worn in the Climbing Room for both climbing and abseiling. The Management will endeavour to keep the facilities in good working order but accept no responsibility for any failure or breakdown. In such an event, Members will have no right of redress or course of action against the Club.

The Management cannot accept responsibility for any damage to or loss of personal property brought into the Club however caused, or to vehicles and their contents which are parked in the Club Car Park or the grounds of Charterhouse School. Charterhouse Club and its employees shall be under no liability in respect of injury to Members or Visitors caused by negligence or recklessness of the Member or Guest.

Charterhouse Club is a ‘No Smoking’ area. Members are required to respect this policy. Charterhouse Club has adopted a policy of ‘No Alcohol’. Members are requested not to bring alcohol onto the premises. Members are required to inform the Management of any change of address or change of home/work telephone numbers.

The Management shall be under no obligation to renew or extend membership but, in the event of such renewal or extension, the conditions set out above shall continue to apply, except as expressly stated. Any Member may be disqualified from making use of the facilities and forfeit his or her Membership, without refund, if the Member’s conduct is, in the opinion of the Management, considered to be unsuitable.
